2. How We Use Your Data

The data we collect (your selected font name) is used solely to:

Apply Your Font Preference: The extension retrieves your saved font name to apply it to webpages you visit, ensuring a consistent typography experience.
Display Your Selection: The popup interface uses the saved font name to highlight your currently selected font.

We do not use your data for any other purpose, such as analytics, advertising, or sharing with third parties.

3. Permissions and Why We Need Them

FontChanger requires the following Chrome permissions to function. Each permission is used minimally and only for the stated purpose:

activeTab:

Allows the extension to apply your selected font to the webpage you are currently viewing when you click "Apply Font" in the popup. This ensures the font is applied to the correct tab without accessing other tabs.

storage:

Enables the extension to save your font preference so it persists across browser sessions and devices (if you use Chrome's sync feature). Only the font name is stored.

scripting:

Permits the extension to inject a Google Fonts stylesheet and CSS rules into webpages to change their fonts. This is the core mechanism for applying your font choice.

host_permissions: <all_urls>:

Allows the extension to apply your font to any webpage you visit, as font customization is intended to work universally (e.g., on news sites, blogs, or social media). The extension only modifies webpage styles and does not access or collect webpage content.

Our Content Security Policy (CSP) restricts external resources to trusted Google Fonts domains (https://fonts.googleapis.com, https://fonts.gstatic.com), ensuring no unauthorized scripts or styles are loaded.

4. Third-Party Services

FontChanger interacts with the following third-party service:

Google Fonts API:

The extension fetches a list of available fonts from https://www.googleapis.com/webfonts/v1/webfonts to display in the popup. It also loads font stylesheets from https://fonts.googleapis.com to apply your chosen font to webpages.

Data Shared: No user-specific data is sent to the Google Fonts API. Requests are made to retrieve public font data only.
Privacy: Google may log standard metadata (e.g., IP address, request timestamp) for API requests, as outlined in Google's Privacy Policy. FontChanger does not share any personal or user-specific data with Google.

No other third-party services are used, and we do not share your data with any other entities.

5. Data Storage and Security

Storage Location:

Your selected font name is stored securely in Chrome's storage API (chrome.storage.sync), which is managed by your browser and may sync across your devices if Chrome sync is enabled.

Security Measures:

FontChanger uses a strict Content Security Policy to limit external resources to trusted Google Fonts domains, reducing the risk of malicious script injection. The extension does not execute arbitrary scripts or access sensitive data.

Data Retention:

Your font preference is stored until you remove it (e.g., by resetting the font or uninstalling the extension). You can clear the stored data by resetting the font via the popup or clearing your browser's extension data.

6. Your Rights and Choices

As FontChanger collects only a single piece of non-personal data (your font name), your privacy rights are straightforward:

Access and Delete: You can view your saved font in the extension's popup. To delete it, use the "Reset Font" button in the popup or uninstall the extension, which removes all stored data.
Control Sync: If you use Chrome's sync feature, your font preference may sync across devices. You can disable Chrome sync in your browser settings to keep the data local.
Uninstall: Uninstalling FontChanger from Chrome removes all associated data from your browser.

7. Children's Privacy
